Manchester United target Harry Maguire and Kurt Zouma, Danny Drinkwater could rejoin Leicester City, and Arsenal want Domagoj Vida.

United frustrated in Maguire chase
Leicester City are bringing in two new central defenders, but Manchester United should not get their hopes up over signing Harry Maguire, per the Mail. The England international has been linked with a £75m move to Old Trafford since his impressive showing in the World Cup, but Leicester are not buying Caglar Soyuncu, 22, and Filip Benkovic, 21, to make way for Maguire to leave. Instead they are signing the two players for the future.

Manchester United are hedging their bets as they try to bring in at least one defender before the transfer window closes. Everton are their rivals for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma. The 23-year-old is the subject of a loan offer from the Toffees, while United have made contact to discuss a permanent transfer. Chelsea are reluctant to countenance letting Zouma go to a rival.

Leicester consider Drinkwater return

Another potential Chelsea departure could be former Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater. The 28-year-old England international could move back to his former club. Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic’s arrivals have edged him out of the frame for regular football, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek will stay at Stamford Bridge this season. Tiemoue Bakayoko could also leave, with AC Milan interested.

Arsenal consider late Vida move
Domagoj Vida
Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida could be another signing for Arsenal this transfer window, but the London club are raising funds for the deal first. David Ospina and Danny Welbeck were offered in part exchange for the 29-year-old Croatian defender, but Besiktas want a straight cash deal worth almost £27m. Another player who could leave is Lucas Perez, wanted by West Ham for £5m.
